💡 What is Adaptability?

Adaptability is a strength in the Relationship Building group of CliftonStrengths.

People with outstanding talent in this group enjoy close relationships with others. They feel great satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.

With Adaptability, you live in the present, not seeing the future as a fixed destination, but as a result of the choices you make right now. You don’t shy away from unexpected requests or “turns”; sometimes you even look forward to them. This flexibility helps you stay productive while also remaining calm when others get stressed.

✨ The Power of Adaptability

When used properly, Adaptability can be a “superpower” that helps you:

  • Quickly change and react to situations.

  • Be willing to go with the flow of change , not resist.

  • Stay productive even when surprises arise.

  • Stay calm in times of turmoil , instill peace of mind in others.

  • Explore the future through small choices , not constrained by rigid plans.

⚠️ Blind Spots - Blind spots to avoid

Adaptability is a great talent, but if you're not careful, you can fall into a few “traps”:

  • Can be judged as lacking long-term direction if not attached to clear goals.

  • It's easy to get caught up in unexpected situations and miss important but not urgent tasks.

  • It is difficult to cooperate with people who like to plan closely , if there is no agreement from the beginning.

  • When lacking confidence, Adaptability can become passive – reacting instead of proactively leading.

🛠️ How to hone Adaptability

You can start with simple things:

  • Use your ability to adapt quickly to be a “soft stopper” when plans need to be adjusted.

  • Keep others feeling calm and stable in a pressured environment.

  • Be a flexible and supportive teammate, willing to switch roles or fill gaps for the common goal.

💡 This is just a small part of how to develop Adaptability . In Vietnam Strengths Academy workshops, you will be equipped with specific methods to maximize Adaptability and other strengths.

🤝 Strengths that help Adaptability shine

Talents don’t exist in isolation. They combine, interact, and influence each other. Some talents amplify each other, while others moderate .

  • Talents that tend to amplify Adaptability: Connectedness, Empathy, Relator, Positivity, Harmony, Activator.

  • Talents tend to moderate for Adaptability: Analytical, Discipline, Focus, Achiever, Maximizer, Strategic.

🌟 Conclusion

Adaptability is a wonderful talent that helps you stay calm in the midst of change, stay optimistic in the midst of turmoil, and take advantage of opportunities from new things . When nurtured properly, Adaptability will not only help you succeed in your work, but also be the glue that keeps flexibility, security, and trust in the group.
